A visual workspace is not just a prettier file browser. It should remember where references came from, why they were selected, and what decision they supported.
The board is a context graph
Every object on the canvas can carry more than pixels. A link can remember its source. A note can connect to a column. A comment can become part of the review trail. That context is what makes a board useful after the first session.
Avoid the generic whiteboard trap
Generic whiteboards are flexible, but they often force creative teams to rebuild the same scaffolding every time. A moodboard product should provide defaults for capture, clustering, review, and export while still leaving the canvas open.
Make AI act on the board, not beside it
AI is most useful when it reads the actual board state. Summaries, captions, brief drafts, and missing-context prompts should emerge from the references already present, not from a separate chat transcript.
